The Springfield Tech Council is seeking a part-time Events Coordinator.

The Springfield Tech Council is looking for an individual with the traits listed above and the skills described below to join us on our journey of progress and innovation.


What You’ll Do:

  • Create, elevate, develop and coordinate the management and execution of events.
  • Understand the necessary elements for creating events
  • Work with member volunteers to assist you with execution of events.
  • Schedule event committee meetings
  • Prepare agendas, timelines, supplemental materials and minutes for all event committee meetings.
  • Know what’s hot in 417-land - Compile a list of prospective event locations; visit locations and provide guidance on the final selection.
  • Build and foster positive working relationships with members and the communities we serve.
  • Assist in use of social media to promote all events and education.
  • Manage all administrative duties and details associated with the event including financial operations, distribution of promotional materials, and responding to inquiries.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Board of Directors.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Infectiously positive and hard-working attitude.
  • Superb organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Creative and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to respond to problems and to assist in a calm, courteous, and helpful manner and attitude.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, fluid in social media.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in related field required or related industry experience.
  • 1-3 years of event planning experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking during STC events.

Pay Rate: $20/hour
